Wedge,
I agree with you on the fact that hitting is not one of their weaker points. But the Yanks philosophy is that you can never have enough hitting. I also sympathize with you on the Mets traumas, being a Mets fan and all. One point that I would like to make is that the Yankees are not thinking in the future. They are thinking in the present and this season. They are pushing their pitching rotation aside and concerning themselves with their hitting, which is pointless. The Yankees have one of the best offenses in the league, but their rotation is not the greatest and in a few years it will be even worse. In a few years, Clemens will be gone (he's retiring after this year), Wells will either be retired or close to retirement, Weaver will probably be traded (like Lilly for example) and the only starters left will be Moose and Pettite. I assume that they are planning to trade for pitchers or aquire them out of free agency when they need to, but it's not a sure-fire guarantee that some team will trade them a decent pitcher or that there will be a decent pitcher available. They just delt away their top prospect, and he could've been a key guy in their rotation. _________________ ~THE MAYOR |

I agree. If you look at the Mets, none of their recent deals have netted them a starting pitcher.
The bullpen continues to trouble the Yanks it seems. _________________ -Wedge231 chris@c-wod.com

| Personaly I can't staned the Yankees, I don't see how you could since they can get whoever they want and can plow through the mlb, I also hope the Red Sox tear them up. Also I feel this definitly wasn't a fair trade, none of the deadline trades were. |

Justin,
It sounds like the only reason you have no complaints is because you think the Yankees got the bad end of the deal and/or failed to meet their objectives. Not too fair. |
I read my post again, and I guess the tone of that post did imply that, but that is not what I meant. It was a fair trade. The Yankees sent away a good player in exchange for a good player. They didn't rip anyone off. So, in that sense, I have no complaints.
My pointing out that the Yankees didn't address their needs was in response to themayor's comments. _________________ Justin Lieber |

The Yankees payroll was above 180 mill b4 they aquired boone and traded raul. I dont know if they are paying boone as much as they did mondesi but still 180 mill is outragesss. They still need a reliver tho orosco wont do the trick so maybe nelson will step it up.
And i have seen a lot of boone in cinnci when they played the cardinals alll the time. And he is a good defensive 3rd baseman. I dont know how he compares with ventura but boone can very well hold his own on defense _________________ My teams

Boone may be a good defensive player, but Ventura is better no question. _________________ ~THE MAYOR |

He is better overall than Ventura but not defensively. He will improve in time, but he has just been traded from the NL to the AL and he has to adjust to a whole new group of pitchers. He will improve defensively quicker than offensively. _________________ ~THE MAYOR |
