Story: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7388184

The Yankees have offered the manager position to former Marlins manager, and former MLB catcher, to Joe Girardi.

I figured Girardi would be the front runner for the position, with the way he handled the Marlins in his time their. The Yanks liked him then.

Is he the best option? I think so, at this point, aside from bringing Torre back, that is.

I wanted Donnie. Watching Torre and Donnie go to LA is a punch to the gut. It could lead to other bad things, too. Hopefully Mo, Jorge and Pettitte aren't too tempted to join them.

But, as far as Girardi... my feeling was that all 3 candidates (Girardi, Donnie and Pena) were solid choices. So, I think he'll do well. I hope he will, anyway.
