What most OSU fans fail to admit is that the SEC fans are in some ways right about Ohio States Schedule and not being "Battle Tested" for lack of a better phrase. Look at the 2002 team EVERY!!! game was a war.
No matter who they played they had to in one way or another earn there wins. Nothing was a give me that year. They played to the level of there opponents. They never gave up. The defense never let the score in any game get out of hand. Special Teams was truly special. The QB took a sack rather then force throws. Which meant fewer Turnover's. They ran the ball more.
The current team gives up the ball they do not stay focused. They let the hype get to there head. The defense uses to much prevent zone style. Which makes fighting any kind of spread offense impossible. They don't wrap up the guy with the ball instead they try to just knock them to the ground.
Both the Defense and Offense have trouble controlling there emotions which results in penalties. See both NC games for this issue. All the penalties they got ended up making it easier for Florida and LSU to score easier.
Our QB despite what some fans I know in My view sucks. Yea he has a cannon and good size. However he lacks the discipline needed to make the right judgment calls. He either forces the throws or does not go through his read fully or he does not run when he needs to. Ive seen plenty of games where he does not look at all receivers and just forces a throw to guy he was told to throw to. The receivers do not come to the ball when they should.
Here is a list of things they need to do t win it all.
1. Stop turning the ball over. If you do not generate turnovers fine OK but STOP turning the damn Ball over your self.
2.Run the ball more. See the last 2 NC Games. First one they ran the ball a total of 6 times. Second time they ran the ball a total of 9 times..... I realize that they want spread but hell when anyone throws 87% of the time teams kind of know what your going to do.
3. Do Man cover and Blitz more. Just don't do it from 20 yards deep. This prevent crap needs to go when your playing fast spread offenses. Sure you will get burned on a couple plays. However letting them control the clock and eventually getting a TD is not worth it. They key to any game is making the QB fear the defense.
4. If the boy across the line says your momma is so fat when she jumps up in the air and gets stuck Ignore the idiot. Chances are he is thinking about his Mom this means you just smile. |

| those were some pretty good points, not sure about no.4. All of those things would certainly help them and help just about any team as a matter of fact. I think their main problem is that they're just not good enough. If they lost by a touchdown or 10 points or something, you could probably look back and take away a turnover here or there and the game would've been much closer, but Florida and LSU flat out smacked Ohio St. in the mouth and I expect USC will do the same and probably worse. |

We'll see...i don't care how good a recruiter Pete Carroll is...they still lost something like 11 starters, and that'll hurt any team...even USC...Mark Sanchez wasn't all that great filling in for John David Booty last year, and they still don't have that go-to game-changing reciever that they've had in the past (Williams,Jarrett) _________________ INDIANS....Finally the season has ended

Florida smacked and beat them to a pulp. However LSU beat them soundly by only 14 points that about 5 minutes of play in some games. OSU had a chance to really steel the fire from LSU but squandered it when they started committing personal fouls and turning the ball over.
Like I said in the beginning of my post it is not that OSU is weak it is the fact they simply do not play enough tough games. OSU is not failing the Big Ten in the Title game. It is the Big Ten Failing OSU. |

OSU should have lost to Ohio U and Troy, got completely dismantled against USC, were lucky against Wisconsin. The Buckeyes aren't as good as their record shows. _________________ Michigan Wolverines

Well, in 2002 they didnt have the suspense to win it and i think since they were underrated they won by no one talking about them. Then once 2006 came against Florida(MOST OVERRATED TEAM) they lost cause of Ted Ginn getting injured, then once 2007 came along we thought we could win but thanks to our QB Tod Boeckman we lost cause he threw pick after pick, so Injured players in 2006
Too many turnover Tod in 2007 _________________ Kent Read, Kent right, KENT STATE |

If Willis McGahee hadn't got injured in that game, I think it would have turned out differently. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |

Ted Ginn played defense?? All this time I was thinking that he was a wide receiver and a kick returner. Ohio State's D gave up 34 first half points. The Buckeyes' offense managed just 82 total yards and 8 first downs the entire night. They held the ball for only 19 minutes (compared to 40 by Florida) and didn't score at all in the 2nd half. Troy Smith was hurried practically every time he dropped back to pass. Anthony Gonzalez was OSU's leading receiver with 11 yards on 2 catches. Florida's defense was stifling that night. So unless you believe that Ginn was going to return every kick for a touchdown, he wouldn't have made a difference either.
P.S. I would hardly call a team that has 2 titles in 3 seasons "overrated". |
