Rugby, Australian Rules Football, Cricket, as 3 examples, are sports not popular &|or haven't taken off, &|or have as yet to become big in the U.S..

I wonder why?

These are not bad athletics.Soccer is beginning to attempt to take off. I'm impressed MLS is still going, & seems to being going stronger each year.

In conclusion, how would be the best way to popularize these sports in the U.S.? Integration of the non-U.S. sports mentioned above & others not mentioned into America with the hope of being as big as the NFL & MLB in the future should be done.

Where should the introduction of these & other non-U.S. sports to the U.S. be done first? The Pee-Wee/Little League level? The H.S. level? The NCAA?

What do you think?

All opinions are welcome.

The MLS is a terrible soccer league and it's no way to get Americans excited about the sport. What networks should do is show games from the English Premier League, Italy's Serie A and possibly Spanish Premier League. That way people could enjoy "the beautiful game" by watching the best players in the world, who are all playing in Europe.

Countries have their sports. I would imagine that MLB experiences similar "popularity" in areas where cricket is very popular and the NFL in areas where rugby is popular. Every country doesn't have to widely play every sport.

I think there are several great sports in other countries but the main stream media here is always going to focus on the big three along with a handful of others including golf. We'll just have to depend on cable to see the others.

I am not a foreigner. I am a native U.S. citizen. I think I may be misinterpreted to be from the Old World or Latin America due my post here. MLS' biggest mistake is their unending use of singular names for their teams. I peronally hate the use of singular names for sport clubs & teams.

When naming a sport team or club, always use plural names. Also, I would not suggest starting up a pro league in any of the sports I mentioned in this here post in the USA. That would be a self-destructive business decision & a crumby investment. I personally think the pro-lacrosse leagues that exist are engaging in a very risky gamble. Even the NHL, a high profile/high octane league is on the brink of extinction.

To introduce these here things in the USA best is by doing it at the Pee-Wee/Little League level, then the HS level, then the NCAA getting in on it a little later. Pro? Wait, wait, wait. Patience pays off.

Well Rugby of which I play is gaining more steam every year here in the US. It is actually very popular at colleges. But then that is where it stops. Some colleges including the one where my club is assocaited with is now starting to offer schalorships for.

If you go to a school like Florida State the rugby team is made up of practice squad Football players or guys who were good enough in H.S. and thought that they could be a walk on at FSU. They were wrong so they play Rugby but it is club sport there.
