What is the deal with the Redskins? Is Daniel Snyder trying to mimic
Al Davis? If so, he is off to a good start. Everyone thought that Greg Williams was the successor of Joe Gibbs. After 4 interviews, though, they turn around and fire him! Then, they fire Al Saunders, who hadn't done a bad job as on offensive coordinator (he had great seasons with the Chiefs). Then, before hiring a head coach, they appoint the new coordinators.

I don't know what Snyder is doing, but it doesn't seem to be stepping in the right direction.

Snyder's indecisiveness and quick trigger are part of the reason why the Redskins have underachieved so badly over the last ten years or so.

They've been talking to Jim Fassel, who with 3 playoff appearances and a Super Bowl appearance in seven seasons, is one of the most overlooked coaches in the game, and they seem to be waiting until after the Super Bowl for the chance to interview Giants' defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

But the coaching staff they had got them two playoff appearances in three years after seven or eight years of major disappointment with some highly talented teams. As a Giants fan I say hey, start all over if you want, that's one less divisional opponent I have to worry about next year.

Well they decided to promote Jim Zorn, one of those newly hired coordinators. Zorn has been around the league for a while as a player and a quarterbacks coach in Seattle.

Personally, I think this is the best move for them. If Snyder really thought Zorn was going to be a great coordinator with good leadership skills, there is no reason he can't be a good head coach. I wish the Cowboys had just given Garrett the job a year ago.

well Dan Snyder said in an interview on Yahoo the other day that he sees something in Zorn that he knows nobody else does...so for the sake of the Redskins he better be right. I thought Williams would get the job all along.

Well I don't know how Snyder can say that he "saw something nobody else did" in Zorn, because he apparently asked all the other candidates to list three other candidates that they would recommend for the job, and Zorn was high on all their lists.

If I were a Redskins fan I would wish that Dan Snyder would finally start to realize that he is a money guy and not a football guy and that he would start to just pay the salaries and leave the decision making to the rest of the front office.

Who knows, maybe Zorn was the right guy for the job. But Snyder should not act like he pulled some kind of rabbit out of his hat if the move pans out.
