NY Knicks coach, Jeff Van Gundy, resigned yesterday. He felt he wasn't doing his best at the job. He ranks as 3rd most in wins at head coach in the team's history. As of right now, his job has been filled by Don Chaney. Chaney lead the team to a win over Indiana last night.

Yeah that's kind of a surprise I think. The Knicks are playing their best basketball of the season right now.

And the problem with them before wasn't the coaching, it's the talent level of the players. Or rather lack of it. It's mediocre at best.

No height and the point guard position isn't all that strong for them.

Yup, I don't really like Latrell Sprewell but I got to admit he was right when he said that this team was weak up front.

I liked him because he is the only Knicks' coach I ever knew for the most part. He's been with the team for about 13 years as assistant head coach and head coach.

I thought this was kinda suprising. Didn't exactly expect him to just quit like this. But it's a good thing Chaney gets to finish out the season. He should do an OK job in NY.

Van Gundy was/is a very talented coach & I agree with Wedge in regards to his comments. I actually liked him & I am not a very big fan of the NY Knicks team. I always loved it when MJ use to play there when he was in the Bulls though. It was always an exciting & a tough game to watch. Win or Lose

I liked Jeff Van Gundy too. He's a hard worker. I hope my Warriors can get him since he grew up in the Bay Area.

I mean if you want to look at what Van Gundy meant to the Knicks, they were on kind of a roll before he quit.

But now under Don Chaney they're stuggling again.

Latrell Sprewell is a big Van Gundy backer too. When Sprewell was making those comments earlier in the year about how the New York Knicks' upper management had failed to bring in some quality frontline help in the offseason, the thinking was that Van Gundy was the one who had really felt strongly about it and Spree was his mouthpiece.
