With the trade deadline approaching (March 11) anyone care to make a predictions on who may get traded in the coming weeks, the only one I have really heard is that it seems SJ is going to try to get rid of Owen Nolan..... _________________ I AM CANADIAN

I have no idea. The Rangers will probably go out and predict they'll make the playoffs. Then they'll deal away their top 2 picks for the next 7 season to bring in some overpaid veteran
That's how it seems to work these days. Why don't they just look at the Isles and rebuild... grrr
I haven't kept up with hockey as much as I would like recently. _________________ -Wedge231 chris@c-wod.com

| Difficult to tell right now. Most teams are cashed out. |

Anyone needs Patrice Brisebois ? Donald Audette ? Mariusz Czerkawski ?
Anyone ?....Please ?....Ok then.
more seriously, I heard the sharks are going to get rid off a lot of their guys, like Selanne, Nolan and Damphousse, but Nolan will get paid even if there is a strike/lock out, he still has a couple of years left to his contract, only the rangers in my opinion could afford him, but they're not making the playoffs so....although you never know with them.
I heard about the kings too, Mathieu Schneider is one of them. The blues are looking for a good goalie, personnally I never liked Curtis Joseph, Manny Legace is ready in my opinion so the wings could try to trade them their notorious goalie for a good defenseman, that's just an opinion though, I do not think it's gonna happen, and I really don't think the blues would make a pronger or mcinnis/joseph type of trade.
Montreal definitely needs someone, anything, I would suggest a big talented forward, but mtl has nothing to offer, they do not want to get rid off their good young players like markov, komisarek, perezhogin or even hossa or ribeiro, and I understand them, plus nobody wants the players I mentioned at the top, brisebois just earns too much money, the other two also, for what they bring to the team (Audette is in Hamilton right now) |

| I don't think the Wings will even consider trading Manny Legace. He's one of the best backup goalies around and they really don't have anything in the farm system that has experience. They might need him during playoffs. |

I thiink he suggested they trade Cujo and let Legace step up. But I agree, it's not gonna happen,The've invested too much into him. _________________ I AM CANADIAN

Owen Nolan is a cancer in the Sharks dressing room. In spite of his talent which seems to be dimishing with time he is not a hotly sought after player.
Someone make take him as a rent a player and cut him loose after the playoffs are over

leaf: that's right, I suggested they trade cujo and go with legace, but do not think it will happen.
madbulgarian: the "rent a player" option regards players that become unrestricted free agents at the end of the season, if a team wants to do that with nolan, they risk having to pay for the rest of his contract, or at least the major part, I think that the team who will get him, will want to keep him for long, remember next year he will get 6.5M, and 7.5M for each of the two subsequent seasons, which is a total of 21.5M for a player known, as you said, to be a cancer in the dressing room, AND, for a player that might not play in the 2004-05 season.
I heard about Iginla moving too, that would be, imo, a way better choice. |

Iginla's move has been discussed, but the gm says it ain't going to happen unless they get an exceptional deal. The best solution for the blues I can come up with is try to get Irbe. They could proabaly get him pretty cheap, and for hardly any players. This seems to be the best choce I think. He had some great runs in the playoffs last season and with the right defense the blues have to offer he may be able to do it again. _________________ I AM CANADIAN

yep you're right, right now this is the most logical move the blues could make.
The blues have struggled for a couple of years now to get a good #1 goalie (Turek, Johnson, Bratwaithe), and just think of the start they had, they were playing their fifth or sixth goalie ! they were still winning, but you can't win for long this way, and you certainly can't win in the playoffs. |
