Does This Automatically Make The Dodgers A Contender?

Well, I'm not a Dodgers fan... I'm a Yankees fan and, really, I'm locked into my team. But, from what I have heard and read, the Dodgers were a contender talent wise - that is, they have a bunch of solid talent, including a good pitching staff. They had clubhouse issues toward the end of last year and that is one of Torre's strengths. So, I definitely think they are a contender. I wish him a lot of luck.

I think that Joe Torre going to the Dodgers will definitely be a big boost to the overall moral of the team. However all the results still come from the players on the field.

I'am a Dodger fan and with that disaster at the end of last year,I'm thinking anybody would have been an upgrade. We don't have him yet,if Colletti can pull this off it will be great to get a Manager of that caliber. To answer the questions yes with this division I think it makes the Dodgers a contender...

I think it definitely helps. And if A-Rod decides to come along as well, then that really helps them out.

It is also rumored that Don Mattingly will follow Torre as bench coach, so the team gets a lot better in the end.

i think Torre will help alot in terms of club house chemistry and bonding the team together but to say a manager can make a team a world series threat is unfounded. Torre is a great manager but at the end of the day it's up to the players to perform (as seen with the case with the Yankees).
