What do you guys think of tiger giving that guy a car?
Tiger told the guy that if he beat him, he'd give him a car, and the guy beat him. The guy was the Orlando city amatuer champion but when he later recieved a car from tiger, he found out he had lost his amatuer status. Is that fair? The guy didn't win a tournament or anything so why should he lose his amamteur status? And is tiger to blame for this?

yea thats horrible but its not like he beat tiger in 18 holes of golf no amatuer can beat tiger. tiger jsut showed up outta nowhere and said if u hit this green u'l get a prize. The dude wasnt really all that mad that he lost his amatuer status because he won a fully loaded buick SUV plus hes getting paid for the comercial he was in with tiger. And he can and probably will get his amatuer status back next year. It was only a one year amatuer suspension

Here is an article on it:

Taking prizes of value/being an endorser of a commercial product. Thats the rules.

Its not a bad trade off at all. He may be able to make more money from it too. Maybe he'll get offered a small endorsement or something, locally in his area. Oh, and he got to meet Tiger and the car and be in the commercial.

If amatur status means not receiving prizes or endorsements, he should have realized winning would have lost him his status.

He hasnt lost it completly just for one year. He can probly get his status back next year.

But he wasnt jsut playing a round of golf. he wasnt in a tourney or anything. Tiger woods showed up and said i bet u cant hit this green. They the amatuer did adn tiger gave him a car and showed him the hidden camera. I'm sure at this point the last thing on his mind was his status.

The USGA said that everytime that the commercial is aired they lengthen his suspension by a set time longer (not sure how long "set" time is)

He can't control how often the ad is aired. Once made, that's in the hands of the TV networks.

It was worth it. At least, he's not upset about it or anything.
