The Giants defensive scheme was excellently drawn up to mask their poor secondary. All four teams the Giants played this postseason noticed how vulnerable their corners were and drew up big passing schemes. Romo, Farve, and Brady (three of the top four qbs in the NFL) fell victim to the blitz because they kept trying to throw the deep ball. I think the Giants were very lucky these teams did not abandon their game plans and switch to some screens.
Eli Manning held his own and did not make mistakes. However, he never completed more then 21 passes all postseason. I don't see the Giants as a competitor next year. Teams will be ready for their defensive schemes and Eli Manning cannot win a game by himself. _________________ God created the earth in 6 days. It was pretty good. I didn't think the Giants would have gotten past the Packers and the Cowboys. I was rooting for them the whole way. _________________ "The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. Although I did think the Giants would beat the 12-point spread easily, I am still in shock that my team won that game.
I agree with parcells, I am surprised teams didn't try more screen plays against the Giants especially considering the success the Patriots had with it when the two teams played in Week 17, but it should also be noted that nobody was able to run the ball against the Giants either. Lawrence Maroney and Ryan Grant were completely shut down and the Giants' taking control of the divisional game against the Cowboys coincided with them finally containing Marion Barber in the second half. If you take away the long pass and completely shut down the running game, that doesn't leave an offense with too many options (my "Madden" quote of the week ) |

I thought the Patriots would win in a nail biter. Right before the game though I had a gut feeling that I and the rest of the world was going to be wrong!
The giants played inspired D. The front 7 were beast. But Eli did what he had done the whole playoffs.... make plays when plays needed todos be made.
Kudos to the coaching staff of the Giants also, but Da Hoodie made it easy. By not adjusting to the pressure upfront . He tried to run some reciever screens but they did not work. He did one running back draw that worked niceky and picked up a long first down, but never came back to it. That may have slowed down those crazy linemen enough to keep Brady of his butt in the fourth. _________________ Need Money? Free Guide

It was outstanding. That's what I hope every super bowl is like from here on. Those blow outs are no fun unless its your team that's mopping the floor with the other team. At the beginning of the season I picked the G-men to finish last in the NFC East. But that D got better and better much to my surprise and just goes to show there is a reason they play the games .. _________________ www.thesportsstuff.com

Haha the next day Jay Leno said that the game had something you rarely see in the Super Bowl: A fourth quarter. |
