Having the arguements is part of what makes it great. For every Hofstra that gets snubbed, there is also a Kansas State, who had a legitimate chance of making the tournament this year as well.
The bottom line is the fact that not everyone should be allowed to get in, and therefore, they can't. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |

the NCAA tournament is, as Arrowhead said, one of the best run tournaments in all of sports. expanding the field does the integrity of the tournament no good. the auto-bid for the tiny conferences cannot be taken away because that's what gives us the glory of the Cinderella story. There is no such thing now, really, as a cupcake game (except for the 1 and 2 seeds in the first round-and even those have been in question the last few years!) If you expand the field, that takes the sense of achievement that a team gets from MAKING the field right out of the equation. If virtually every team that anybody believes should be in the tournament gets in, then there wouldn't be any reason for us to get so hyped up in March. The beauty of the tournament would be in jeopardy if there weren't the teams that get snubbed. And from a realistic standpoint, there would be no way in the world that the sponsors of the NIT would just let it go by the wayside. The tournament is too big to just cut out of the season. There will always be a team who feels snubbed no matter how many teams are in the tournament. The NIT is those teams last chance to tell the world they belong. _________________ AP |
