Remember learning about the Cuban Missle Crisis and the Bay of Pigs incident? Well, this movie is like that, but it takes place in 2001, so the possibility of global destruction is greater.
Basically, a terrorist group gets a hold of a nuclear bomb and has some fun, attempting to put the USA against Russia. The man in charge seems to idolize Hitler and is trying to succeed where Hitler failed.
The problem with this movie is that it isnt very believable. Jack Ryan (Ben Affleck) is a historian that gets a call from the CIA one day because of some report that he wrote and within hours he finds himself on a plane to Russia with the President of the United States. The next day he finds himself working with a US spy to get some info on the nuke, and a couple hours later he saves the President's life tipping off the location of the bomb.
Though the bomb scene is quite shocking, really, they didnt show enough of it to get a full perspective of what actually happened. The best they showed was 2 shots of the cloud afterwards, but we never get an aerial shot of ground zero.
And just to get straight to the point, this wasn't a very entertaining movie. Though intriguing and thought-provoking at times, the movie is very predictable.
Knowing that most of you out there almost never go to the movies, dont waste your once-a-year trip on this one.
