Even though my interest level had dropped since Thursday, I really made an effort to watch as much of the third and fourth rounds finishing today.
The interesting thing about the winner is that last year we had the youngest ever winner at Sawgrass with Adam Scott, but this year the oldest ever in Fred Funk, who is really a deserving guy.
criversonfan, you're correct about that wind. Just look at the trouble guys like Tway, Woods and others had on the 17th. It took Tway 12 strokes (a record) to finish that hole.
Near the end, I was really rooting on Luke Donald, because he's from England and considering that I'm part English too, it would have been great to see him win the fifth major. All in all, it was an exciting finish, but too bad the weather couldn't have co-operated more throughout the weekend. _________________ J.R.'s SPORTS WORD.

This year Stephan Ames won.
The wind was also rather consistent (about 25mph), like last year.
The funny (!?) thing here is that Davis Love III missed the cut after finishing in first position the first day; and Adam Scott, the leader of second day, went +10 on the third day. And it went like that for some other players.
It's a very challenging course: crazy winds, difficult roughs; dangerous waters... It has been said that here is the course to choose the champion, not vice. |
