Whose gonna be the X-Factor? Will Leinart keep the Heisman curse alive? Will there be an unsung hero in a field of superstars? And last but surely not least, who will be the one leaving with the crystal football?
My pick for this game is Oklahoma. I feel that they bring a lot more to the table as far as depth goes. Sure, USC has the heisman winner, but so does OU. Both have outsanding running backs with their own styles. One is a powerful, bruising back that also has big play speed. The other guy is the type of RB that you'll watch, and make you say things like "WOW! Did you just see that!?" Without anybody even in the room. But the reason I'm picking Oklahoma is because of their defense. You can't give Bob Stoops and that defense a whole month to come up with a plan.
The X-Factor in this game will be, well, defense. Sure the big names are on offense, so the better defensive team is bound to win.
But here, my friends, is the guy that will win it for Oklahoma. His name is Antonio Perkins. He is the best cornerback on arguably the best secondary in the nation. He holds the OU record in the 40 time (4.31) and Vertical jump (42 inches). How he handles Leinart accurate arm will be key. He is also one of the top punt returners in all the game, with 8 career returns for TDs. Im calling for Perkins to have at least one interception and a big return. One of those will go for TDs. _________________ Ted Ginn for president |

Oklahoma. Too much balance and I'm not sold on the USC secondary. Oklahoma by very little, though. _________________ Indians: 15-19

USC Trojans.
This year Leinhart is better than White. I'm thinking that the USC defence will be able to stop Peterson too.
Should be a great game. _________________ J.R.'s SPORTS WORD.

Wow! 55 to 19 the USC Trojans win the National Championship in a rout. I did not see that one coming.
I'm not a USC fan but I was rooting for the Trojans going into the game but I also thought before the game Oklahoma would win.
Maybe USC and the Pac-10 will get some respect now. I know they've been getting dogged a lot after the UCLA and Cal bowl losses.
Oh and congratulations to the USC Trojans and their fans! Great year! |

Remind the next time you analyze a college team to bet the opposite. J/k

WOW! That was a great win for fans of West Coast football. Unfortunately I don't think us PAC-10 fans can get too loud about our conference, USC is really the only team that's been doing well regularly. I still think CAL's situation is a fluke, just like Northwestern back a few years ago. _________________ John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotton son that whosoever should believe on him should not perish but have everlasting live. |

Now I'm sure that Auburn has no chance at a split National Championship, because they struggled in the Sugar Bowl and a clear Champion came out of this game. Too bad for Tommy and the Tigers, but this year they and Utah are bit by the BCS fiasco. _________________ J.R.'s SPORTS WORD.

Ok knock me for my pick here but don't knock me for my other bowl picks. I had a better record than all but one of the ESPN idiots in the espn.com pick 'em challenge...
After watching Oklahoma's efficiency last night, I suddenly absolutely love the way Jim Tressel runs his offense. OU had too many costly turnovers and stupid mistakes. _________________ Indians: 15-19

Imagine if USC still had Mike Williams.
The score would have been like 70 to 10. |
