Not a big surprise: The Red Wings have used some new key players (Hasek, Hull, Chelios) and are the best team in the NHL.
Semi-surprise: A lot of younger teams seem to be doing well (Boston, Carolina, Edmonton, etc).
Big surprise: A big surprise in my mind is how bad the Devils are doing.
It appears that the Islanders and Rangers are slowing down. With Lindros on the IR after his 7th career concussion, things don't look too bright for the Rangers..
Note: I'm a Ranger fan

Simply, this is the best, most competitive NHL season the league has had in a long, long time. With the exception of the evil Red Wings, everyone will be jockying for position come the final two weeks of the regular season. I'm excited to see the final standings and watch non-stop playoff action 'till June!!!

NYR and the Canadiens are competing for that 8th spot. Should be exciting...
