Thats tough, but right now, I'd say Do it.
We have Giambi signed, he'll be our 1B for a number of years. Johnson may be able to become a 3B or a LF, but why do that? Henson is a solid 3B prospect and Griffey could potentially fill our LF/RF hole. He's a star and I believe his best years could be ahead.
Its different for the Pads, they aren't gonna win and they don't have the mass amount of talent that the Yankees have. Burroughs is your "savior" where we have tons of saviors. So, yeah, right now, I'd say Do it.
Johnson has a lot of potential, but its like D'Angelo Jimenez before him. Why old onto something you don't need. We were smart and plugged Alfonso in at 2B. Middle infielders are more versatile than first basemen.

hey, Jimenez is workin great over here!
That is a good point. Im looking at it from a different prospective, we most likely arent going to win this year, but we will in a year or 2, so holding onto our "savior" is probably the most important thing for us.
Though, Griffey is a CF all the way. I would think that if Griffey came over, Bernie would move. |
