The majority of the funding for the new stadium came out of the pockets of the taxpayers from the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana, so my guess is this:
It might be cold in Indianapolis during the winter, but the Super Bowl is going to bring in an enormous amount of revenue to the city nontheless. It's the NFL's way of rewarding a city for funding a stadium and may give other NFL cities that need new stadiums incentive to fund projects in their cities as well.
So yeah, it will probably be cold, but the huge cashflow going into the city should more than make up for it, and may even make up for the cost of the stadium itself. |
