People close to Ted say he had wanted his body to be cremated. Why should his wishes not be respected?

This really is getting to be a shame. In his will, he wants to be cremated, and then his son comes up with this note he apparently signed:
If they were really serious about this, why wouldnt they have made the note more, legal. And why wouldnt they have taken better care of it?
Its a shame that we may never know what Ted really wanted.
