The fight for this year's Stanley Cup has begun. Tonight is the 1st game of the series between the Devils and the Avalanche. Both teams were ranked #1 in their respective conferences. This is the first time this has occured since 1989. Both teams have had scares but came through to where they are today. The Avalanche are without Peter Forsberg but have a great goaltender in Patrick Roy and great defense with Foote, Borque, and Blake. The Devils have Brodeur and players like Jason Arnott, Petr Sykora, and Patrick Elias leading the offense. Who will come out on top?
My pick is that the Devils will repeat and win in 7.

Colorado won game 1 by a score of 5-0. I'm hoping the Devils will shape up and provde a little more competition next game.

Can't see any way back for the Avs now after last night's game...now 3 games to 2 down going back to NJ for game 6.
The Devils do look awesome though. If they can re-sign their free-agents and keep this line-up together, I wouldn't bet against them going all the way again next year.
Roy has made a few untypical errors this series, which has really been the difference between the two teams. |

Avs are up 3-0. Looks like the Devils will have to wait another game to try for the repeat.

| I couldn't believe that game last night...Avs winning easily 4-0 in NJ. This is one hell of a Stanley Cup...can't wait for Saturday's final game in Denver...who knows which way it will go after all these crazy results! I HOPE the Avs do it myself, if only for the sake of Ray Bourque, who must be one of the greatest players never to have won a Stanley Cup. This maybe his last chance. I guess everyone but Devils fans will be rooting for Ray and the Avs! |
