Which Powerhouse in sports would you like to split up just cause you dont like them or because you think they are unfair and bad for that sport by having too much star power?

THE NEW YORK YANKEES.
Honostly, I think what they do is bad for baseball. (Sorry, Pat.) Baseball needs a salary cap...but that's for another discussion.

Plus, the Lakers are splitting themselves up! lol.

Agreed. Hopefully the Red Sox or some other team can show it takes more than money to win a championship. But if teams like the Yankees and the Lakers like throwing money around to try to assemble an unbeatable team, let them. Maybe instead they should look at the great teams of the past. Like when the Bulls lost only like 10 games in the regular season....or the Miami Dolphins' perfect season.

I think its the Yankees because they have wayt oo much star power. Baseball has needed a salary cap for too long and i think that the Yankees have finally made it to where Bud Selig could make a push for a salary cap in baseball but he would have to take it up with the players union who would not see it as a good thing. I dont know if they would have any say in a salary cap but if they do it definately wont happen.

Sometimes teams like the Yankees and the Lakers hurt themselves by having to much star power.

The Yankees have (but not recently), because the Yankees have done a good job and that is why they are successful. It's not just money, it's management and performance. The Yankees may spend the most money, but plenty of teams spend plenty of money and don't do as well.

"Powerhouses" should be celebrated - not condemned. It is what all teams should strive to be. This is why I have no poll option to vote for.

How can the Yankees be faulted for spending money? It baffles the mind. The fans (directly or indirectly) give Mr. Steinbrenner this money and you want him to do what a bunch of owners probably do? Bank it all? He spends a lot and he should. The Yankees are good for baseball because they are a team that uses all of its resources within the rules of the game, given by the fans, to put together the best team that they can. There is nothing wrong with that... on the contrary, it is how it should be done. Instead of hating the Yankees for doing it, you should be urging your favorite teams to do it and supporting them.

As much as I don't like the Red Sox, they've done a good job. I like some of the guys they've brought in. The same can be said for the Angels owner. He came in, signed Colon, Vlad and Guillen and they are only 1.5 back in the West.

If baseball needs a salary cap - baseball needs a minimum cap. Besides, the salary cap is really not an option as far as I can see (I'm not sure I'd even consider it one if it was) because contracts are signed and in writing. You can't tell Manny Ramirez that "Hey, we passed a new salary cap and all players contracts are cut in half to fit it. You make $10.5 million." Not going to happen. Unless, of course, you set the salary cap higher than the current highest payroll in baseball.

Good Point but it is harder for fans of smaller teams to be happy for other big teams.

whats the point of having powerhouses? when you have powerhouses, there is little chance for other teams to do anything. i mean every single year, i expect the yankees to make it to the world series. and most of the time they do. this is while other teams, with less money have no chance to succeed

Guess who I voted for...

While it is true that it takes more than money to win (thanks for proving this point so well, Fred Wilpon), teams like the Devil Rays and Brewers would never be able to assemble the same talent as the Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox, etc. Even if they did, it would be a short-lived team for a season or two at most. The Yankees have kept most of their team together for a long time (Jeter, Bernie, Posada). As I say this, the Rays have won 11 straight, and Milwaukee is over .500. Talk to me again in September... Maybe.

On the other choices, the Lakers, as we know them, will be gone, and the Patriots aren't even that good. We can't really fault them for having a bunch of role players who fit the system. They don't really have any huge stars.
