The bat was corked, but that doesn't mean that he knew about it. Innocent til proven guilty, not the other way around. _________________ JustBBall: Die-Hard Basketball Fans Only! |

his story is that he only uses the corked bat for batting practice and homerun exhibitions and i have no reason to beleive he is lying. HE should be suspended for not checking which bat he was taking to the plate. And for BP he should probably not use corked bats just incase _________________ My teams

This will hunt him down for about the whole season. I think he does NOT use corked bats for his 504 or what so ever number of homeruns. Hes a strong guy, and I belive he can make Homers without help from stupid bats. _________________ JustBBall: Die-Hard Basketball Fans Only! |

| I am finnally right. Ever since sosa hit the 65 homeruns i knew he was cheating. At first i thought it was just steroids and now we know he was using a corked bat too. I think that sosa should be exilied from baseball like rose and shoeless joe. His 65 and 62 homerun marks should have an asterisk put next to them also. From the first time I heard him speak I knew he was up to something. Down with sosa! |

I totally disagree with that. Even though it will make his reputation really bad, I still think that it was a mistake. _________________ JustBBall: Die-Hard Basketball Fans Only! |

Parcells, I think you are being a bit harsh... I respect your opinion and all but the statement you made: "now we know [he was cheating when he hit 65]" is just not a true statement. We don't know that, you can speculate that that is true, but you don't know that.
Anyways, when I first saw this I was at the Pad-Tiger game last night and they flashed on the Jumbotron that Sammy was ejected for a corked bat...the first thing that I said was "I wonder if the bat wasn't his." It was really more of a hope than a thought, but that turned out to be false.
I just hope that this doesn't seriously damage his rep. I have no reason to believe that this wasn't one of his practice bats, although I am not sure of the purpose of having a corked practice bat. Also, I do not believe that he "accidentally" used it. I think that he was frustrated with his recent slump, and just snapped. That's my opinion, anyways.
As of yesterday I was watching PTI and they talked about a list where Sammy Sosa was the most marketable player in baseball. I wonder how this changes that. I also wonder if he recieves fewer HoF votes when the time comes...??? _________________ Justin Lieber |

Didn't George Brett use an illegal bat at one time? That didn't hurt his hall chances.
I think it was a mistake. I still respect Sosa. _________________ -Wedge231 chris@c-wod.com
