I know there are fans of these 4 teams here... so I thought we'd talk about these trades.
Yankees (Me and Ross) got Sterling Hitchcock.
Padres (Defska and Master of Puppets) got two minor leaguers.
I personally like where the Yankees came out in this trade... we have the best pitching staff in the game I think.
Clemens, Pettitte, Mussina, Hernandez (when back), Hitchcock, Rivera, Stanton, Witasick, Mendoza, Lilly, Wohlers... looks good to me.
The other trade:
Mets (Wedge) got Matt Lawton.
Twins (Brian Curski) got Rick Reed.
I really like this trade for the Mets. I feel that Lawton is a great somewhat young OF and that Reed isn't all that great.

I think the twins got a great deal.
They now have a chance in the playoffs with a great rotation.
Joe Mays, Brad Radke, Rick Reed, Eric Milton
Looks great to me!!
The only problem is that they lose a great run producer. |

well the padres were goin to lose hitchcock to FA after this season anyways so at least we get something for him
the yankees came out well in this deal acquiring a great pitcher that without a doubt solidifys their rotation
hitchcock was vital in the padres 1998 world series run and san diego i know is sad to see him go
the padres are obviously gearing up for the future |

Well I will say the Yankees are just even more amazing now. That is a great pitching staff.
Good job by the Mets. We needed an outfielder who could hit and a leadoff hitter and we got both in this deal. Plus Reed is getting old. I liked Reed but he isn't all that great. He hasn't been doing well recently anyway. Besides, Leiter, Rusch, and Trachsel (gasp) are all coming around.

Hated to see Hitchcock go, but I don't think he'll be the same after tearing that ligament.
Hopefully the Padres are gearing up properly for better years to come.
Yankees did come out very well in this though. So did the Twins.
