Here's the deal: http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/7769236/Shaq-passes-physical,-will-be-dealt-to-Suns

Personally, I think that the Heat come out the winners in this deal. I just don't know that Shaq can be the threat that he used to be.

I agree. Shaq is getting older and his knees are bothering him. The suns are a good team all around though.

technically its a better deal for the heat since they are getting a great perimeter defensive guy in marion whos also got great all-around skills who can score, rebound, assist, steal and block.........also shoot high fg% and ft% and also jack up some threes, plus not turn the ball over much.........oh and did i mention he guards all 5 positions

i was kinda depressed my suns traded away marion, i wanted to see if they could make it work for 1 more full season..............but i guess i was wrong, still love the suns but if shaq doesnt get healthy this trade would be for nothing........only way the suns would benefit from this trade is if shaq gets healthy and plays a good 20-25 minutes of decent basketball with defense AND do some serious damage in the playoffs, so for right now im going to sit and wait for his return and see what happens.

The Suns got a guy with a hip injury, and the Heat got two guys ready to play. I think the Suns should have passed on this deal. This isn't the same Shaq that went to the Heat 4 years ago.

The Phoenix Suns had their back against the wall with what to do with Shawn Marion. The urgency picked up with Pau Gasol getting traded to the Lakers. I think in the short term, if your going to roll the dice you could do a lot worse than going with Shaq. No, Shaquille O'neal is not the same player he was 3-4 years ago. He still is a force and I believe has another gear we havn't seen the last couple years because of injury.

I agree with Tru Playa the million dollar question is whether or not Shaq can stay healthy. I mean... get healthy. If he does, Phoenix is a better team. Suns didn't lose their best player or their second best player. I have a feeling that the closer the Suns get to the postseason and O'neal starts smelling another ring we're going to see he has something left in the tank.

The fact of the matter is the big 3 of the Phoenix Suns, Nash, Amare and Marion wern't getting it done. With the aging Spurs looking kind of vunerable and the Lakers getting stronger, Steve Kerr decided to gamble his reputation for a championship this year. I think both teams will benifit from the trade....maybe.

we'll see what happens when shaq gets healthy and starts playing.........it prolly wont happen till after the all-star break, there is still about around 30 games left of the season..........so im sure he'll play at least 20-25 of them, if healthy............but then we also got to think about the playoffs, can this big guy bring it in long stretches of playoff series, again we'll see in a few months.

short answer: no. i realize how difficult it is to come to grips with the greats when they've lost it. kareem, bird, magic, barkley, hakeem, ewing, and pippen, and of course jordan (those are just the more recent ones) all stayed in the game far too long. it's always sad to see them go to new teams with aspirations of "one last shot at glory like they used to do it". it doesn't work that way. think about it; yes, shaq did end up getting a ring in miami, but he really wasn't a factor THEN, let alone now. the heat won that series because wade averaged more freethrows than the entire dallas team. real talk. phoenix got rid of thier best defender, rebounder, floor runner, and glue guy in marion. now who's gonna cover parker, davis, paul, williams, and all the other quick guards for nash while he just plays offense? it will not work in phoenix, dog. because of the 2 time mvp's inability to get after it on defense, shaq will constantly be in foul trouble trying to defend the paint IF he ever gets ready to play. i'll be watching though.

It is still to early to start jumping to conclusions, yes the Shaq is turning 36 this year; however a good workout routine can still help him to come back to his former self.

That is, if he still has the attitude of a champion!

I dont think Shaq will be able to run with the suns. they will have to change their gameplan and that will be their downfall.

the lakers game was really bad, but they bounced back in the game against the celtics.........so we still need to see how well this will work
