Because they are a small market team, and they can't afford to wrap someone like that up for that much money for the long run. They want a better spread of talent for their money, so that they can compete; not have one awesome player and being a bad team. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |

| The Twins are one of the teams that have been able to stay competative in a small market. I wouldn't be supprised due to good minor league scouting a couple of these "prospects" end up being successful at the major league level. Even though a deal with the Red Sox or Yankees seemed like a better deal I don't think the Twins wanted Santana to remain in the American League. |

That could be. I think that part of it came down to the Yanks and Sox not wanting to part with as much as the Twins wanted, as well. Getting him out of the AL was a good idea, too. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |

The Mets came away looking pretty smart here. Humber had tommy john surgery and is still a half season away from being able to make it big, Gomez is a good utility outfielder with good speed and not much more, Mulvey doesn't have enough pitches, and the other guy is only 19 so who knows with him. I say this was a steal for the Mets (if you don't count the insane amount of money they had to give him). _________________ God created the earth in 6 days.
