who questioned Brett Favre of the MVP? he should have won the award, and proved it here. despite ending a streak in the vicinity of 150 pas attempts w/o a INT, he converted 2 TDs, and a long drive in the closing minutes to seal the deal, something that Favre does best.
the game, despite a blocked FG, blocked XPA, and a case of fumbilitis, was a good one.
now...to watch Pat's Dolphins take on the Ravens... |

Yay. Niners are out of the playoffs. Yeah Favre was awesome. Favre at Lambeau in the playoffs is just a combination tha can't be beat.
But how about some of the big time, clutch catches by the Packers' secondary receivers in the 2nd half? Corey Bradford had a big catch streaking down the left sideline for a huge gain that brought the Packers to the Niners' 20-yard line. And that was with Jason Webster draped all over him too. That set up the touchdown pass to Bubba Franks on the very next play.
Then Donald Driver had a big 3rd down conversion catch that kept the field goal drive alive when the game was tied at 15.
Then Bradford with another big 3rd down catch on the Packers' final touchdown drive to seal it.
Another interesting thing about that game is both teams running games got shut down. I remember hearing that this past week and even Pat Summerall and John Madden pointed that key out before the game started how that was a key and it really wasn't. |

Very true Spike, however good Favre is, he couldnt be great without his recievers.
The rushing game was shut down, but Ahman Green didnt have a bad day. He still ran for 86 yards and picked up big YAC, its amazing every time I watch that guy play, he takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. |

Football is a great example of a team sport. A QB is only as good as his receivers
Just ask Trent Green...

I think it might have been a bad omen for the Niners that game when on the first play from scrimmage Gilbert Brown sacked Jeff Garcia and that was Brown's first sack since 1997, hehe.
And give Brown a heck of a lot of credit for coming up big that game. He came up big starting with the Niners' opening possession with a sack and run stop forcing a 3 and out. You had a feeling the Niners' running game might be in for a long day after that. |
