http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2001/0426/1187044.html

He gets the walks record, and then they put him on waivers?!?

"He just passed Babe Ruth to become the all-time walks leader. He also entered Thursday 67 runs behind Ty Cobb, the career leader in runs scored, and 83 hits shy of 3,000."

He should definitely stick around and get those records also, it really should not take him so long if he can get some playing time. I'd actually like to see him come in for my Yankees. Give us some more experience and depth.

There is no doubt he is very talented and has experience but this guy has some screws loose. One of my teachers met him and he kept talking in the third person.

"Ricky doesn't like this..."

yeah i was shocked to read that the pads put him on what Yahoo! Sports called 'special wavers' whatever the hell that is...i would think that havin such a distinguished veteran in the dugout would be positive to the young padres...and with rickey chasin those milestones (like 3k hits), he must be bummed to not have the opportunity to play

It doesn't make sense.

Sadly, though, a lot of Padres personnel decisions don't make sense.

rickey played today, looked strong, worked the count well, is on a 6game hitting streak, had at least 1 SB today (i only saw game through 4th inning)...did they take him off waivers or somethin?

what is that 'special waivers' as Yahoo! called it?

Must have.

I believe the special waivers were something like giving him options. 1. Go to the minors. 2. Be released.

Something tells me he's not going anywhere.

At least, if I were the GM of the Padres, he wouldn't be.

Yeah, especially when he's playing as well as he is. He's got like a 15 game hit streak going.
