Last night, I was watching ESPN's "Outside The Lines." During that telecast, an editor for Dime magazine stated that the NBA wanted an increase in international players to reduce the amount of black players. Although I, a black male, believe that this is hogwash, I thought it would make a good topic to discuss. So, with that in mind, are NBA owners drafting more international players to get rid of black players?

Basketball is predominately black. Most sports tend fall into different categories, based on skin. Hockey is very much a white sport, for example. I would bet the NBA owners care about your skin color, they care about your skill.

Black or White, Hispanic or Middle Eastern, the NBA is just looking for tall, great players out in the world. They dont care what race you are. I know that black people have dominated in every sport (except hockey) but skill is all they are looking for, talent, and evrything else thats in the inside.

that's one of the stupidest things i have ever heard.

i think there are more international players now than before because of two reasons:
1) the rest of the world is getting better
2) the nba's skill level is dropping... no longer is it finesse or fundamentals, its athleticism "i'm going to take it to the hole because i can't hit an open jumper if my life depended on it."

I think that it is pretty much garbage as well.

I think that, the main reason the NBA is seeking International players is to keep the NBA exactly what it is supposed to be: the circuit for the best basketball players in the entire world.

Shouldn't it be WBA (World Basketball Association)? NBA is NATIONAL, and should stay that way.

Well aren't there players in the National Hockey League that aren't from the U.S. or Canada?

And even if not, shouldn't they then call it the "U.S.-Canada Hockey League" and not the "N.H.L."?

Point.

Spike-

If you havent been paying attention, the last 5 years (before 2003), the NHL All Star Game was North America vs. World, so U.S. - Canada League wouldn't work.

If that's supposed to say, "Point well taken". Then ignore the rest of my post.

If not, then I would say:

So shouldn't they call it the North America-World Hockey League then instead of the National Hockey League?

I meant point as in that NHL is also national.

That is a bit absurd. There already a World Hockey League, and there is no way NHL or NBA will change their names.
