| do you think its appropriate that owners receive tax breaks and arena subsidies and do you think that owners should scale back ticket prices to increase the affordability of enjoying the professional team for the rest of the community? |

they'll never scale them back as long as they're selling them at the current price
the cities give the tax breaks because they know the crowds will more than make up for it in other purchases. personally i think it stinks, though
it's all about the benjamins, baby |

| It's no different than companies getting tax breaks for moving factories to cities. City govts expect that those tax breaks will lead to other business, more people, and other who will increase the tax base. It gets complicated, but when you consider the motives for such move the whole discussion becomes more of a political debate than one that is sports related. |

I agree here. Many times, the price of the tickets relate to the product on the field. Example: Yankees tickets - a bit pricey, but they always play well. Royals tickets - very affordable....however, they have not been competitive for some time. Now, if you lived in KC, would you still be going to Royals games, with the tickets that affordable, or would you rather make the drive to St. Louis, pay more for tickets, but watch a more competitive team, with marquis players? (make this decsion not based off of whether or not you are a fan of either team, but rather, just looking to have a good time at a ball game)
As was stated, as long as the tickets still sell at the higher rates, the prices won't likely drop. It is the way of business. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |
