I think that we may have to wait a few years, but I like what Dice-K can do. This pair will put up a nice rivalry for years to come, anyway.

I'm not really familar with all of the Asian pitchers that have appeared in the majors, but as far as MLB accomplishments, he may be. From a quick Google search, it looks like him (if you value the back to back 19 game win seasons) or Nomo (if you value the total Nomo body of work, i.e. over 100 wins, almost 2,000 IP). But, Wang is well on his way, in that case.

Yeah Dice-K very well could be his comp for the years to come, am I forgeting anyone within the past 15-20 years, the closer from LA is pretty sick but I think he's in his late 30's. Yeah Nomo had a good couple of years, diffintly wins for craziest deliver

I was starting to think of that question myself recently. Wang's only been around for 3 solid years so far, so it's hard to fathom him being the greatest Asian MLB pitcher ever, especially because so many teams were so high on young Japanese pitchers starting in the mid-90's. But when you think about it, the only one who's really had a good solid career is Hideo Nomo, and he was really only spectacular for a few years. It was originally thought that by now, buys like Nomo, Hideki Irabu and Masato Yoshii would be the cream of the crop, but for whatever reason most of them didn't pan out.

Chien-Ming Wang's career is still very young. He has only 49 wins to his name but how many are there that really have more than him at this point? I'd imagine that's gotta put him in the top 3 or 4 already. The ironic thing is scouts from all over baseball have spent the last decade looking at prospects from Japan when it turns out that perhaps the best Asian-born pitcher yet is actually a native of Taiwan.

Either way, sometimes I get a sense of guilt talking about subjects like this. In the end, I think we should be labeling pitchers as pitchers and not Asian, white, black, Hispanic or by any race or ethnicity.

Hideki Irabu was horrible I looked him up 34-35 with 5.15 era, what a huge bust, but the other guy the Yanks just aquired last year for 7Mill is going to be even worse Kei Igawa might not even make it to the dance this year................although I think he just had a good outing in AAA
