You guys also need to remember Metallica is breaking in a new bass player. That would affect their overall sound.

A good bassist will not affect a band to a point where they have to give up guitar solos, or thier overall style of sound.

I know most of you aren't into these guys, but I went to a John Mayer/Counting Crows concert last night. Sat on the lawn and had a blast.

i have the john mayer cd, im not that big of a fan of him though but i do like the counting crows. I would have gone to the concert but i had no one to go with

Bob Rock played bass for St. Anger's recording.

I still don't see what that has to do with Kirk Hammet playing solos.
