Who do you guys think is the most overrated player in N.B.A. today?
My pick is Jason Williams of the Memphis Grizzlies.
I enjoyed him at first when he was in Sacramento and when his stuff worked. But as the seasons went by, he got a little tiring to watch. Because when his stuff doesn't work he's a horrible point guard. He's only shooting 37 percent from the field. That's horrible for any player. He gets a lot of hype too. And I think for the most part it's undeserved. He turns the ball over a lot and he takes wild 25-foot (or longer) threes in transition.
When his passes work and his shots go in he's sure something to watch. That's how he became part of the upset wins over the Kings and the Lakers earlier this year. He just took those games over down the stretch.
But when his stuff doesn't work he makes you want to pull your hair out after he throws an errand pass into the stands.
He's also a horrible defender. I think he could play decent defense if he felt like it because he's got quick feet but most of time Jason could care less about that end of the floor. That's the big reason Sacramento Kings' Head Coach Rick Adelman was reluctant to play him in the 4th Quarter of close games last year and opted instead to go with the better defending point guard, Bobby Jackson. |

Yeah I guess its a part of maturing & getting to know the NBA for Jason Williams. However, aren't you suppose to learn & overcome all that back in College or even High School?
He must've had a prettty easy going coach for letting him take bad shots, bad passes. Like someone said, "he is fun to watch when his passes connect because its fancy, but when it doesn't he is horrible horrible player."
I think the only other player who made a living out of an almost per game fancy passes was Magic Johnson. I mean I can name a lot of players that had fancy passes but noone ever did it as consistent & frequently like Magic & connected 95% of the time.
Just in case someone says the name John Stockton, well Stocky has sharp text book spectacular passes not fancy like Magic |

magic was great during the laker's showtime but before him there was the late great floppy socks pistol pete maravich........perhaps over time jason can become one of them but that will take some time..........
