Here is a run-down of the MLB season awards: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7470516

What do you like? What don't you like? The biggest if is the Rollins/Holliday decision. Who would you have picked?

They got it right, except for the NL MVP (well the Gold Gloves too, but they aren't a part of that article. Most of the Gold Glove choices are ridiculous.)

Rollins is a leader? Check
Historic year? Check
Prophet? Check

However, he wasn't nearly as valuable as Pujols or Fielder, who at times literally threw their teams on their backs.

I also find it ridiculous how ARod wasn't unianimous

Well, it doesn't matter if it was unanimous; it just matters that he won. I am sure there are some biases in the voting, anyway.

What helped Rollins the most is the fact that he produced those numbers from the lead-off spot, and not from the 3 or 4 spot, which is where they are expected to produce. When your lead-off man can act as cleanup later in the game, then that is a big bonus for your lineup.

I think Holliday and Tulowitzki both got duped. It's because of Coors Field. Even with the humidor we still have a giant outfield that leads to to more extra base hits. I guess the voters thought that lead to inflated numbers.
All that aside Holliday and Rollins faced each other in the playoffs and the Rockies won. Matt Holliday lead the way. I would think that would be taken into consideration, how deep you go into the postseason.
It doesn't seem like the voters take defense into consideration for rookie of the year voting either. Tulowitzki put up solid offensive numbers played outstanding defense and was a clutch player all season long including the playoffs. Plus he plays the most important defensive position, SS. Rockies had the best Fld % and the most double plays.

Postseason activity doesn't count for the votings. At least, it isn't supposed to.

As far as Coors Field causing inflated numbers; I am not sure that is that big of an issue, either. After all, Yankee Stadium is skewed as far as HR numbers go, but that didn't hurt A-Rod.

To be honest I wasn't really sure if postseason play factored into MVP voting. I would like to stand by my point that Coors Field played a roll in the decision but Citizens Bank Park is notoriously a hitters ballpark. I guess I have to agree with Arrowhead-Red that Rollins being the lead-off batter and still being able to turn the line-up over and hit for power got him the award. I really looked at the stats and what stood out the most was the 41 stolen bases. His power numbers were good, not great and his average was under .300, barely. He put those numbers up while still handling his lead-off responsibilities. So whatever, I guess I can deal with that.
Tulowitzki should have won NL ROTY. Spectacular glove, rocket arm which overshadows the fact he is 6'4" and hits for power. Time will tell, in a couple years see who you would rather have on your team. He had a better all around season this year and should have won the award.

Yeah, I think I've read before that the votes are turned in before the playoffs start.

The MVP is really just for one season. So, who you want on your team in the future is really a different question entirely.

I agree here. It is a yearly award, and there have been many ROTY awards that have been given out in which the players went on to have mediocre careers. However, Stubb, I think I would have to agree that Tulowitzki did get robbed out of the award.
