On 8-26-2004 the NCAA ruled against Mike Williams Eligibility for the 2004/2005 season. Im on a fence post on this decision... its good in the fact that it will discourage younger players to enter the draft... but its bad in the fact that it will ultimatly hurt the trojans... what are yall thoughts?

The NCAA screwed up here. Mike Williams said he paid all of the money back. He felt he was ready for the NFL after the courts ruled in Mo Clarett's favor. He had no choice after the NFL appeal to return to college. It's not like he did anything wrong here.

Well if he's got enough money he could sit out this whole year and be ready for the NFL Draft next April. I wouldn't risk injury in the CFL.

True that. And he did not deserve to regain eligibility. He broke the rules, plain and simple. He hired an agent, and got a lot of money from endorsements and his agent. It would have been one thing if he had only hired an agent, but he also got a whole lotta money. Plus, he dropped out of his spring semester classes, showing he no longer had any interest in the NCAA system. That is just too much evidence against him.

If they let him back in, they would have to let back in every guy who goes to the draft, doesn't like his position, and tries to get back into college by firing his agent. Can't let that happen.

There are a lot of reasons listed in the post that explain why he shouldn't be allowed back in. Break the rules, pay the consequences.
