In return, they get C Brian Schneider and OF Ryan Church. Awful trade, Milledge could have been the centerpiece for the Mets to deal for Santana or maybe Haren. Heck, they could have traded for Barry Zito in his free-agent year with Oakland a while back.
But instead, Minaya makes an awful, awful trade. A middling catcher (didn't they trade for Johnny Estrada this offseason and have Ramon Castro as a backup?) Also an average outfielder in Church.
One of the worst trades since the Slocumb for Varitek/Lowe deal.
They should make me GM of the Mets or something |

This trade may help the Mets yet. They like the looks of Church, and get a good defensive catcher. They stated that Estrada may not be around much longer, anyway. A trade for Zito may have been the way to go, if Milledge is all it would have cost them. Aside from that, Zito wasn't having a good year anyway.
As with any trade, we will have to wait and see. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |
