This was actually a really good movie, I was surprised how good this movie was. The special effects, most notably making real-size people looking smaller (the hobbits), were flawless. The fight sequence at the beginning of the movie was AMAZING, nothing else to describe it, and the movie doesn't let down from there, it just gets better.
I never read the book, so I had a hard time believing the "power" or whatever that the damn ring had, or how it got it, but once I learned to accept it, the movie was great. The story line had lots of twists and turns, and just when you thought you had a break from the action, the nice old hobbit grows temporarily evil and leaps towards Frodos (Elijah Wood), making everyone in the freaking audience jump backwards.
Watch this movie, everyone, even if you arent a fan of this type of novel (because I'm not either). And then understand you have to wait a year for part 2, and a year after that to finish the trilogy.
