Hi!
First post on the forums here, and it's more of a feeler to see if anyone would be interested, but I'm attending and participating in the 2007 Dutch Open of lockpicking, and had thought about writing up the experience (this is my second year at this event, so I have a better clue as to what goes on than I did last year) but I don't really blog or anything, plus the only people I know who would be interested already get to hear about it from other members of our community.
From the sport perspective, specifically, I wondered if there would be any interest in an on-going description of the events as they unfold here on this forum.
Anyway, I'm not looking to impose a (far) fringe sport on you all, so please pardon me if I'm butting in, the thought just occurred to me, I googled "sports forum" and here I am.
Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving to anyone stateside (I'm going to try to find a turkey dinner in Amsterdam tonight.) _________________ If you can make a key, we can make a pick. |

Thanks, Patrick.
Alright, Everything starts today. Presently it's about 12:30 here in Amsterdam, in 2 hours we'll be caravaning up to Sneek (pronounced "Snake") in Friesland.
Our route.
While we're waiting to head out I'll give some background info on the event, my involvement, and the sport in general.
This is the sixth year for the Dutch Open. It started with a very small field in 2002 and is one of two iconic competitions in Europe. The other being the German Championships, which enjoyed it's 11th year of competition last month. The Germans also keep track of who places in the two important European competitions with a listing of the "Masters of the Universe" Simple as that little page is, finding yourself listed (You simply have to place in a major competition to receive your first "Punkte." Which is not so simple, actually.) is something most competitive lockpickers aspire to.
Ach, looks like we're taking off a bit earlier than I thought.
More to come! _________________ If you can make a key, we can make a pick. |

Hi!
Sorry I have not written. The location of the event did not have internet access as it had just opened, so I have not been able to get online. I'm catching my flight back to Boston in a couple of hours, when I arrive home, I'll write up the whole experience. _________________ If you can make a key, we can make a pick. |

When did locksport like this start up? I had never heard of it, but it seems like it could be a cool type of competition. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |
