I really think the Kings can knock them off next year. The Kings were the only team that gave them a real scare by taking them to 7 games.
And the Lakers looked mortal a couple of games against the Kings, especially those 2 games down at the Staples Center when the Kings were up by 20 points (or something like that) in each of those contests.
Lack of experience cost the Kings Game 7 this year. I don't think it will next year. |

It did? I though lack of big man cost them. Well anyway, if Sacromento gets a big man and some one like Vlade Divac who can actually stick Shaq, then it would be really exciting in the Semi-Finals if they meet there, so I say get Brian Grant or someone like that. |

Welcome to boards, Sergey.

Well you could say that but I don't think any team in the N.B.A. has enough big guys to guard Shaq. I mean just look at New Jersey, they had a ton of big guys they could trot out there against Shaq (Aaron Williams, Todd McCullough, and Jason Collins) but they didn't give him as much trouble as the Kings. I still think you can let Shaq have his big game but shut down everyone else and you can beat the Lakers.

Yeah, Grant's a tough S.O.B. but he doesn't want to play Center against Shaq because he did that in the 2000 Western Conference Finals when he was with Portland. |

|
|
I hate to say it but the Lakers made a great trade during Draft day. They traded Chris Jeffries and Lindsey Hunter to the Toronto Raptors for long range sharpshooter Tracy Murray (who once scored 51 points in a game) and Jaron Rush. Murray will make teams pay for doubling and tripling Shaq and Rush is the kind of big, athletic guard that Phil loves. Hunter was a disappointment in the Western Conference Finals against the Kings. Him and Devean George were the' Kings best players at some points, hehe.
The only downside for them now is they don't have a backup point guard for Derek Fisher but since Phil Jackson likes running things without a traditional point guard anyways, I guess it doesn't really matter.
But this trade definitely helps the cause for the 4-peat. |

... Just kidding hehe YES it was a very good trade. Hunter wasn't very effective anyway, Murray is a very good handy underated player. Phil Jackson is a coach that doesn't get too affected with these situations. I mean he make things work.
I mean he had this happening in Chicago, S/Guards going Point, S/Forwards going point, S/Fowards guarding a centre & then some, I don't think that would be a problem for him with the Lakers.
B Grant actually didn't do a good job 1-on-1 against Shaq back in Portland-Lakers Playoffs couple of years ago. He was a very good helper/defender, but I didn't think he was that effective. Tim Duncan is only one of a few players that I have seen that held Shaq down low.
Divac is very experienced. He did a decent job vs Shaq, its just he can't do it for the whole 4 quarter, he needs help, and a BIG MAN decent help not just a body that stands there & has a sign - GO THROUGH ME SHAQ & USE ALL MY FOULS THEN IM OFF! Yeah after last year's Spurs-Lakers' playoff series, Duncan probably guards Shaq the best in the league I would say. |

I dont think that they will get the fourth. Some team this year will be a cinderella I think.
I would like the Jazz to win but that will never happen. To bad Malone and Stockton wont get a ring. I have liked that duo forever. I like kid also. He is an all around player but his team needs to get better players.

...the Stockton & Malon duo has provided the NBA with some great moments throughout the years, most especially the earlier days. Malone's thundering dunks and Stocktons dazzling passes. Stockton is a true point guard that definitely should be looked up to by younger NBA point guards & alongside Malone definitely deserve a ring.
However, I don't think the Jazz have enough to win that ring, maybe 3 years ago but not now. On the other side of the coin, I believe the Lakers can win it again for the 4th time even though I would hate that to happen. However, with the interesting changes of some power teams chasing LA, I believe the Lakers will need to be more on their toes this year to be able to do so. _________________ ...:::[ I don't like bball, Ohh noo! - I love it, Yeaah!! >img src="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt=""> ]:::... |
