Who do you guys think will give the Lakers their biggest obstacle to a 3-peat?
I think it's still really the rest of the league besides the Lakers on one level. And the Lakers on one level above that. As long as Shaq and Kobe are together, everybody else can be interchangeable parts and the Lakers can still win it all.
But I think there are some contenders. My two biggest picks are the Kings and the Spurs.
The Kings won 55 games last year and did what some thought would be impossible by re-signing Chris Webber. By trading Jason Williams for Mike Bibby (which was a steal, in my humble opinion) they've upgraded the point guard position immensely. I don't know if they can win more than 55 games this time around (because the Western Conference is still too strong) but I think they'll get farther in the playoffs this season.
The other team is the Spurs. Yes, the Lakers swept them last year in convincing fashion but on paper they still matchup well with the Lakers with the 2 big guys inside, Tim Duncan and David Robinson. And they did lose Derek Anderson in the backcourt but replaced him with Bruce Bowen, who's a good backcourt defender and their version of the guy who will try to slowdown Kobe Bryant. Now I think the big thing with them is psychology. The Lakers beat them so badly in Games 3 and 4 last year of the Western Conference Finals, you have to wonder if the Spurs are thinking they can never beat these guys now. If they can get past that and the addition of Phil Jackson's own mind games I think they have a chance. |

| Toronto should be a tough team to beat next year too. Though I think the Lakers will win again. They are too good. |

I agree with Nick on this one
not just cuz Im a fan of the raptors but
if you look at there team on paper
they are one of the best if not the best.
as long as every thing falls into place I see that Raptors taking the spotlight away from the lakers.
huumm just thought about one reporter saying
something like :
"If you take shaq out of LA
you get the raptors with ugly Jerseys "
But now that Toronto have "the dream"
and a bit more Experince
it varry well could put them on top even if the lakers still have shaq
