That's the craziest thing I've read in awhile. They took a winner over money. That's a pretty cool move. I guess they'll have a pretty good team next season. _________________ -Wedge231 chris@c-wod.com

The big kicker is, their agent also is the agent for Sakic and Forsburg, who are both Avs. _________________ Detroit Red Wings / NHL.com / Sporting News

Yeah. It got teams really steamed (Detroit in particular). At least Detroit got revenge by signing Hatcher. _________________ Detroit Red Wings / NHL.com / Sporting News

How in the .... were they able to sign Kariya for that kind of money? There's got to be some kind of hidden bonus in that deal. He wanted $10 mil a year, didn't he? Or is he so steamed that he didn't win the Cup it doesn't matter anymore?
Roy will probably come out of retirement now. |

There is no bonus in the contract. It is only for 1 year that is it. Then he will be a free agent and be gone. The Next season he will get his $10 mil. _________________ Chris

Kariya wants a cup. He wanted to stay in Anahiem, but they refused to give him the minimum amount (to resign a guy, you must give them at least a certain % of their previous contract). _________________ Detroit Red Wings / NHL.com / Sporting News

Gotta respect Kariya for the move. Most guys today wouldn't have done that. _________________ Justin Lieber |
