Whatever works for both players and owners is best. If the players are willing to sign their lives away, it's their call.

Well what I would do is I would put those clauses in and if one of those athletes gets hurt doing that, his contract wouldn't be voided but would turn into a minimum salary contract over the life of that contract.

How about this? I'll change what I said here.

If your contract is over $1 million a year, and you do any of that risky stuff like riding a motorcycle, your contract goes down to $1 million a year for the life of that contract.

Any contract under $1 million, you get that money no matter what you do.

I think that's reasonable.

I think paying them over a million a year is ridculous.

You're still paying people to be stupid, Spike.

Jay Williams is stupid for driving a bike and getting injured bulls should take his salary away from him for stupidity

Um, I don't quite understand what you're saying here. Have you changed your stance on the issue?

I'm saying if you make like $4 million a year and you violate a clause in your contract (ie. riding a motorcycle) your contract goes down to $1 million a year.

If you make less than one million dollars a year, like if you make $500,000 a year, you get still get $500,000 and no freedoms are being taken away from my 2nd example.

No, I havent changed my stance. Athletes are over-paid. 1 million is about reasonable for a healthy player, not like these ungodly 25 mil saleries. Look at MLS, one of the best players in the league gets 25K a year.

Salaries in the MLS are comparable to their revenue sales and money spending fan base which are infinitely smaller than the major sports.

That is true. The point is, you can still play professional sports for much less then what people are paid. Maybe something like 25,000 a year plus a percent of team revenue would be reasonable for pay.

Thats like minimum wage

sports players are too important to the economy to only be making 25 grand. They would here crap from their secretary wives (who make more than them) about getting a new job that pays more.

Well it's back to that thing. In major sports a lot of money is to be made so who would you rather see that money go to, the owners or the players.
