Me too.
Team USA needs a kick in the butt - and who better than Phil Jackson? _________________ Justin Lieber |

I think this would be a great idea. I hope he does it.
The reason being, if he succeeds, I think he would put to rest the idea that he's not a great coach.
Because he would be expected to win, yes, like the Lakers and Bulls but he would probably be working with 2nd tier talent like this last Team U.S.A. (no Kobe, Shaq, Iverson, McGrady) with a limited amount of time to make a team cohesive. 2 big challenges. |

I think Shaq and Kobe said they might play in the Olympics though, it would be more impressive if he won with the team that lost in the most recent tournament. _________________ It takes a lot of punishment to be able to do anything to change the social order.

Hi YA'll
I don't think Phil Jackson is overated, well maybe just a little but not that much, he definitely has skills!!!
In todays Professional Basketball World, to be a good coach is not as 'Black & White' as it used to be. Back then all you had to be was smart & very knowledgable about the game & a bit of fire behind you. Yes there were players who whinged as much as Laettner or was a brat like Van Axel & Co, but compared to the players now, they were nothing!
So I'd have to back up Patrick on his comment, being able to maintain your players (with super high EGO) is something PJ is very good at. Not to mention making every player work together & YES the Olympic is a BIG TASK when it comes to that as a few players have shown in the past OLYMPIC games already. Ex: Celtics Star Pierce, super mad @ Karl 4 not playing him as much is just 1 of many
1 more point! Loosing the spot to 5th place is somewhat a positive thing for US. The rest of the world is evolving & US can not rely on their one-on-one skills to beat other countries. I mean thats immature bball, even MJ played a better team game in the Olympics & he was a ball hog _________________ ...:::[ I don't like bball, Ohh noo! - I love it, Yeaah!! >img src="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt=""> ]:::... |
