Is Robert Downey, Jr. a good fit for the character? I heard rumors early on that Tom Cruise wanted the part, because I guess he is a huge IronMan fan.

Downey was a great fit for Stark, he made the character his. Terence Howard was good as Rhodey too, I can picture him in the War Machine armor. And Gwyneth Paltrow was really attractive. First movie in like 3 years.
