OK, I stand corrected.
Maybe what I meant is that noone from the more recent "closer era" has made it to the Hall solely based solely on relief pitching. When Hoyt was around, there were no players that specialized in simply closing out a game, that is a relatively new phenomenon in baseball.
On a side note: I did know of Hoyt, but I never realized how impressive his numbers really were/are. I can only imagine how dominant he would be if he pitched today...perhaps double his save total!!?? _________________ Justin Lieber |
