 I got a speeding ticket before.
Was doing 73 in a 35 -- don't ask -- but I was nice to the cop so he wrote it up as 73 in a 65, so the ticket was only $101. But I had to spend a whole stupid day in a stupid driver's training class because of it

73 in a 35. Even worse.
I was young and stupid - had my license for, like, 2 months at the time. I was just enjoying the freedom I got from driving, I guess. I had a bad day at school, so I took out my angers on the road. Wasn't exactly the smartest thing I ever did.
I was lucky, though, I remebered my dad telling me that the cops want you to admit you were wrong, and be polite to them. So when he come up to me, the first thing I said was "I know, I was speeding, I'm sorry." And the conversation was easy from there. If he wrote me up as 38 over the speed limit, I coulda gotten a serious fine, gotten my car towed, lots of legal hassles.
