A couple of days ago I headed back to the theatre and I saw the thriller starring Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman, High Crimes. To be honest, when I went to the theatre, I didnt even know what movie we were going to see, and when we decided what to watch, I had never even heard of it...so i came into this movie blindly.
The movie, in order to sum it up without giving too much away, is about an ex-military man who is accused of murdering 9 people while he was in the military. His wife (Judd), just so happens to be a lawyer, and a good one at that. But she is unfamiliar with military court so they hire another lawyer, C.W.Grimes (Freeman) to help them out.
Though the plot line doesnt sound like it would fall under the category of "thriller", the movie is actually full of action, much of which actually catches you by surprise.
I happen to be a fan of both Judd and Freeman, so to me, the acting was excellent. Judd was very believeable in her role of wife-who's-husband's-in-jail and Freeman was an excellent recovering alcoholic.
A lot of the steps that the US Military takes during the trial, I would at least hope are very unrealistic. But besides that, this was an excellent movie. Nothing is predictable, and I mean nothing. The ending, though it didnt have the twist of, say, The Sixth Sense, was still not a boring abrupt end of the movie (when you think the movie is over, there is still about 15 minutes left).
Overall, I recomend this movie to everyone, although considering the responses to all of my movie postings, I assume none of you have seen it or will see it
