IMO, it has to be Jimmy Clausen leading the way this far into the season.
Colt McCoy hasnt been very great this season and hasnt put up the same stats, although he is picking up win after win.
Tebow should not even be in the heisman talks. He hasnt put up stats that would win on any other team, he was just put in the best situation in college football.
Case Keenum is my runner-up. He has put up godly number and continues to put up plenty, but he just hasnt really played a defense that is of a top caliber defense.
Mark Ingram in close at 3rd. He is a running back, and being a running back just isnt much anymore in heisman voter's eyes. They look for a QB that leads his team.
Jimmy has been putting up great numbers in every game this season. He has 16 TDs compared to just 2 INTs. He also has 4 4th-quarter comebacks, and would be 5 if michigan hadn't pulled that one out at the end. And might have been able to pull off 6 if Duval Kamara doesn't slip on the out route in the end zone on the last play against USC. Him doing all of this with a defense that is average at best and without the other dynamic reciever in Michael Floyd. We will see what happens to ND and his stats when Floyd has the chance to come back against Navy.
With all that said, arguments? and who do u have? |

Clausen, Keenum and Ingram aren't bad picks and are probably more deserving than Tebow or Mccoy.
But in a year without a dominant offensive player, why not look to the defensive side of the ball? Ndamukong Suh isn't flashy or on a contender, but the award is slated for the most outstanding collegiate football player. Check out this statline for the season (7 games):
44 tackles, 25 solo; 10 tackles for loss; 4 sacks; 1 interception, 7 passes broken up; 12 quarterback hurries; 1 forced fumble; 2 blocked kicks
7 passes broken up! He's a DT for crying out loud. The fact that Nebraska is struggling will surely hurt his chances, but he is a heck of a player. Not since Charles Woodson in '97 have we seen a defensive player win the award... Race should be a tight one as no player has stood above the crowd. _________________ Love the Mavs, Cowboys, and Rangers, but live out on the West Coast...

I agree that defensive players should get more consideration.
Team record should not be a concern when voting here. Player performance and stats should be the big keys. In the end, though, it will go to a player at a big time school, regardless of the fact that there would be other players out there that should have a chance at it. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |
