hey you know what,
you north americans are really sore losers aren't ya
suddenly that magic line heard during the opening of the games - "it doesn't matter who crosses the finish line first" - is forgotten
or does it just not apply to figure skating?
or have you forgotten to add "...as long as it's a North American athlete"
point is, it's a good thing russia won the gold,
canada can cry all they want
learn how to lose

first of all, to say that i follow figure skating would be a lie. so im not going to pretend i know exactky what happened. and im not going to pretend that i even watched it.
BUT
if it was obvious that russia screwed up and canada skated flawlessly, and if a judge (or several judges) intentionally voted for one couple over the other. then a universally acknowledged rule that the olympic games should be fair and that judges should be unbiased and fair has been broken.
russia should be stripped of their gold, canada should get it.
period. |

canada should be kicked out of the tournament altogether
canada did not skate flawlessly,
russia won, unquestionably, the short program
even after french judge's cancellation russia still is ahead in freestyle program, or whatever it's called in english
so i don't see how the "universally acknowledge rule" applies here when one pair is intentionally targeted simply because a north american hasn't won the even in 40some years |
