Well X-Box has Project Gotham Racing, Halo, DoA3, a lot of sports games, and some flight sims. Definitely a good mix.
I heard PS2 is mostly RPG's and 3rd person stuff...

well first...PS2 has the Final Fantasy Series ...and the Playstation has the Madden series as well
now...past that...the PS2 has been around much longer then the Game Cube (the PS3 is already in development) which means a greater library of games is out there for the Playstation.
And yes, i guess that it is a personal preference, maybe I shouldnt have said "easily". But for me it is a waist of money to get a console thats only advantage is Mario, especially when down the road i can get a console (PS3) that will better the Game Cube in every way, and will be able to play all of the games I already own.
And basically I feel that the Playstation has greater long-term potential, I do not see the Game Cube reaching the success as the Playstation 2 did. And in regards to the X-Box...Microsoft already monopolizes my computer, I do not need them monopolizing my console experience as well. |

Well, defska, to be honest. You can always get something down the road that is better. I think thats a given. Thats how video games work.
NES > SNES > N64 > GameCube > Something else in a few years
Thats how that works.
And Gamecube has more advantages, but I guess they are personal taste based. I like Zelda and I like the games the Nintendo has.
I will give you that, it does play the games you already own. But... if you already have the system to play them, why do you need that? Strictly convienence. Not a bad feature though.
And as for long term potential, Nintendo has been around longer than anyone else for the most part. They are long term. No individual system is really long term because they just reinvent it in a 3-6 years anyway!

Nintendo has been around longer than the Playstation, but I do not think they have been around longer than Sony.
And you are right they do always reinvent them down the road, but the Playstation series always builds off the predecessor, there are no surprises down the road, and with Nintendo everything is brand new when it comes around. For that, I think that the Playstation will build a greater fan base, and therefore succeed down the road better.
The PS2 came out last year? and if the new systems are being compared to an older system, I think that that says somthing about the older system, and its future possibilities.
I, personally, am surprised that Nintendo has done as well as it has, because they are always beat to the punch...when the NES was still out the Sega Genesis came out which was comparable to the SNES of later. Eventually the PS1 came out, comparable to the N64 of later. Then the PS2 comes out, comparable to the Game Cube. To me it is surprising that Nintendo fans wait around for the new systems to come out. |
