|
|
From the AP:
| Quote: |
The NFL announced Sunday that Favre will be reinstated and added to the Packers' active roster on Monday. Commissioner Roger Goodell had held off on granting Favre's request for reinstatement for nearly a week, hoping Favre and the team could resolve their standoff.
"Although we built this year around the assumption that Brett meant what he said about retiring, Brett is coming back," said team president and CEO Mark Murphy. "We will welcome him back and turn this situation to our advantage." |
Doesn't sound like a very good relationship awaits. _________________ Patrick O'Keefe - SportsForums.net Administrator

I don't think he will win the job; I think they intend to bench him.
I don't look for his active streak of games started to continue. Unless they end up trading him. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |

I agree. If the Packers don't trade him, I could
see them benching him because they've given
their word to Aaron Rodgers and Mark Murphy
can't let Favre win in this whole incident. |

The Packers are really in a pickle now. If they don't play Favre, then many fans and people will think that they are stupid. If they do play him, and Rodger sits again, he is a free agent by the end of the year, and they don't know what he is worth, and neither does anyone else.
So, then what? Favre plays his retire/unretire game again, and the Pack either has to re-sign a QB in Rodgers that they haven't figured out what is worth, or he signs elsewhere. If Favre retires again, for good, then they probably have to throw Brhom to the wolves the following year.
Sure, Packer fans want another year of Favre, but I really don't see how it helps them in the future. In the end, this move by Favre could really spiral the Packers downwards. _________________ www.chiefswarpath.com |
