If Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas didn't go to Helm's Deep they couldn't have had that epic battle sequence in the movie. Would the movie have been better if they removed that entire fight? No.
I assume the Ents are those tree things? I think that the debating that they had may have been a stalling tactic so they would have more of a role in the movie.
As for the Warg attack, I don't remember the context in which it appeared in the movie very well, so I won't comment on that.
What it comes down to is that the screenwriters had to take an epic novel written 60 or so years ago and turn it into a movie that would make sense in today's vastly different society. I can see how these changes may upset you when all is said and done but the screenwriters could not have pleased everyone. _________________ Justin Lieber |

They were at Helm's Deep, but the way they got there was completely different. They, along with Eomer and his company met the other Rohans before the battle, but in the movie, Gandalf brought Eomer's group in at the very end to finish the orcs off. There also was not a company of elves at the battle, the only elf there was Legolas.
And, yes, Ents are the "tree-things". _________________ Detroit Red Wings / NHL.com / Sporting News

Correct. All the guys that came riding in at the end were there.

I've read the book at least 3 times since the first movie came out (I hadn't read them up till that point). _________________ Detroit Red Wings / NHL.com / Sporting News

Notice I'm not supporting the movie. I'm saying how poor a job was put into the story. Most people who liked the movie have NOT read the books, so they don't know the difference. _________________ Detroit Red Wings / NHL.com / Sporting News

Most of my friends who have seen the movies have also read the books. They like the movies just fine. _________________ -Wedge231 chris@c-wod.com

Ditto.
I do wish I would have read the books before, but I'm not a fan of fantasy stories. However, I thought the movies were done really well and I am looking forward to the next. |

The movies were very well done except when it came to characters attitudes and actions. The details are supurb and the details (like the elven language) is great. _________________ Detroit Red Wings / NHL.com / Sporting News

| Spiegel (sp?) gave me the creeps. What was his other name and what was his previous history? I'm still a little foggy where he fits in to the whole story. |
